Maintenance

All Arran instruments are carved by means of a heat technique called nitruration, which increases the resistance to steel oxidation and keeps tuning stable at the same time that it contributes to define the timbre.

It is a steel instrument and its tension may vary due to atmospheric conditions. After moving it, let it adapt for some time to the new environment.

Do not play the instrument in the sun and if it happens to be in the sun, do not play it until it cools down.

Play it delicately. The instrument gets tuned by tapping on it. If it is tapped too hard or if it falls down it could go out of tune. Practice hand tapping to produce a good and neat sound tapping on it delicately.

Do not play it by using drumsticks or mallets.

Required maintenance:

Apply oil (3in1, Armistol, Froglube) minimum once a week and every time you stop playing the instrument for some days.

Dry the instrument every time you use it with a microfiber cloth to dry moist any particles off.

Once in a while, depending on its use, clean with alcohol and absorbent paper. Apply oil after.

Keep the instrument in a safe place, preserved from falls, blows and moist. Keep it always out of the case.
